Substances Generally Recognised as Safe (GRAS)
MPI maintains a list of substances that can be used as animal feed additives because they are generally recognised as safe (GRAS) when used for that purpose. As part of your obligations under the ACVM (Exemptions and Prohibited Substances) Regulations 2011 to ensure that your product is exempt from registration, you should confirm that any feed additive in your animal feed/pet food is GRAS.
The substances on the list below may be used in the formulation of products with confidence, if used in accordance with the conditions stated for substances generally recognised as safe (GRAS substances).
