1 Country Specific Export Requirements for Dairy Products

1.1 Exporters and operators of dairy products intended for export will be familiar with the “Dairy Importing Country Requirements” and the use of this term in dairy publications issued by NZFSA. We wish to advise the industry that over time the use of the term “Dairy Importing Country Requirement” will be phased out and the use of the term “Export Requirements”, as per the provisions under the Animal Products Act 1999, will be used.

1.2 The industry will begin to see dairy export requirements for specific overseas markets presented in a new style Export Requirements template from 1 November 2005. This template is currently used by NZFSA for other animal products regulated under the Animal Products Act 1999. It is envisaged that some time in the future, the dairy country specific export requirements will be amalgamated with the other animal product requirements to form a set of export requirements for individual markets, with each product type having its own separate Part.

1.3 There will also be infrequent use of an Export Requirements Notification Notice which will be used for urgent country specific requirements and also for situations such as the introduction of a common certificate(s) to be used by a number of countries and where there are no other known requirements.

1.4 We will also be looking at amending the terms used on our website. Where web users will have seen “Importing Country Requirements” in the Navigation tool on the left hand side of the Dairy web page and under Publications, this will be replaced with “Export Requirements”.

1.5 We will be looking at providing clearer links for those requirements relating to Export of Dairy Products on the website. We hope this will be of help to the industry.
